Hi. I’m Dr Beti.
I'm thrilled to have you here. Let me take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about my journey so far.
I'm a board certified anesthesiologist with a deep passion for global health in anesthesia. I currently serve as the Director of Global Health in Anesthesia at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
My journey in this field began at a young age in Ethiopia where I grew up witnessing and experiencing health care inequities. My entire family moved to the United States my junior year of high school for the hope of a better education and life in America. It has been an incredible adventure ever since. I find immense joy in teaching anesthesia, working in global health and being a mother to the most incredible two little boys.
I became a mother, a little over a year ago with my first born son Eyasu. Becoming a mother has been a rewarding and yet isolating experience. I found it hard to make time for friends, social life, work and still thrive as a mother and wife. I am passionate about making other mamas life easy, whether that means sharing baby/postpartum items on my amazon store front or making educational videos about epidurals. We recently welcomed our second son, Kaleb and juggling it all is not easy.
I pride myself for being a multidimensional person. I love medicine, I can’t imagine not working for a living but I also equally love spending time with my boys and husband. I love to cook, organize, clean, but also immerse myself in a good anesthesia read or paper.
I've created this website as a platform to share my knowledge, experiences, and insights with you. Here, you'll find a collection of important links, blog posts, videos, and/or tutorials. My goal is to educate, inspire and connect with others.
I invite you to explore my website, connect with me on social media, and join me on this exciting journey of motherhood while practicing medicine. Feel free to reach out, I'd love to hear your thoughts, collaborate on projects, or simply have a chat about a shared topic.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to connecting with you!
Warm regards,
-Beti
